Camilo Gomez, MD
Professor Camilo R. Gomez has dedicated more than 45 years to medicine, achieving board certifications in vascular neurology, neurocritical care, and interventional neurology. Throughout his distinguished career, he has been at the forefront of clinical innovation and patient care, making significant contributions to the advancement of stroke treatment and neurovascular intervention.
Dr. Gomez is an accomplished medical educator who has held faculty appointments at four American medical schools: Saint Louis University School of Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, and the University of Missouri School of Medicine. Across these institutions, he has mentored generations of physicians and helped shape the next era of neurological specialists. At St. Louis University, he was the founding director of the Souers Stroke Institute.
He is also an award-winning and best-selling author, having published 11 books, innumerable scientific articles, and almost as many book chapters. He is widely regarded for his ability to translate complex clinical knowledge into impactful educational material.
Dr. Gomez is a sought-after keynote speaker, recognized for his engaging and thought-provoking presentations on both clinical and non-clinical subjects. His lectures consistently challenge audiences to think beyond traditional frameworks and embrace innovative approaches to medicine and leadership.
In addition to his clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Gomez holds a business degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Haslam College of Business. As a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, he has considerable experience designing and completing quality improvement and risk management projects.
Presently, in addition to his appointment at the University of Missouri, he currently serves as President and CEO of CK Strategic Solutions Group, a company focused on clinical performance, leadership, and communication strategy. In parallel, Dr. Gomez is also an accomplished creative producer, with credits in Broadway theater and award-winning documentary filmmaking, continuing his lifelong mission of education, impact, and storytelling across disciplines.
