Jon Tyler Baccus, MD, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences and serves as the Internal Medicine Clerkship Director for the UAB Heersink School of Medicine Tuscaloosa branch campus. Originally from Hackleburg, Alabama, he earned his BS in Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his MD from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, completing his residency in internal medicine at Brookwood Baptist Health in Birmingham.

Dr. Baccus integrates artificial intelligence across his academic work, from AI-powered clinical evaluation tools for medical students to systematic reviews comparing AI-assisted and traditional meta-analysis methodology. His research interests include lifestyle medicine, precision medicine and pharmacogenomics, and the application of AI in medical education. He currently leads multiple active research projects employing data from the NIH All of Us Research Program and has developed several AI-assisted software applications used in clinical education and workflow.
